George Erml: New York Bars at Lucerna

New York City will be the special focus of this year’s MOFFOM in October. Café Lucerna, the festival hub, offers an early bite of the “Big Apple” with the exhibition New York Bars by Czech-born photographer George Erml, who lived there from 1980 until his death earlier this year. Taken in the early 1990s, Erml’s atmospheric black and white shots of the city’s old-school bars and saloons create a dramatic mosaic of life far beneath New York’s familiar glittering surface. The exhibition runs through June 1.
